Boating/Water Sports
• Just as with regular shoes, choosing water/boating shoes that have the best fit and shape for your feet is important for comfort and safety.
• Grip is important. Out on the water things can get slippery and having shoes that grip can keep you upright. You need a shoe with a tread which is capable of expelling water to ensure the maximum traction. Sticky rubber on the soles is a great choice, especially when the tread is razor sipped.
• You may find rocks, shells and other sharp objects near water or the shore and your shoes should be thick and strong enough to handle walking on them. If you need a more rugged boot, look for something with heavy-duty soles and protective heels and toes. These boots may also have warm linings with antibacterial and odor-fighting properties.
• Beach water shoes are designed to be worn both in and out of the water and can handle the differences in temperature. They’re lightweight, have breathable mesh and rubber soles. Choose a pair with anatomical arch support for maximum day long comfort, and make sure they have an anti-microbial treatment.
• A good pair of boat shoes offer: grip, protection, support and they should be flexible and quick-drying. The leather of the boat shoe should be treated to be water repellent.
